Production on the six new episodes will begin in Northern Ireland in the spring. The series has quickly become one of the most discussed dramas of the year, helped by strong word of mouth and a cast of familiar faces alongside newcomers.
“We never expected it to travel the way it has,” the showrunner said. “It is a very specific, very local story, but people recognise themselves in it.”
The network has not announced a premiere date for the next run, but production is expected to begin early next year.
